Description:
Focusing on issues that patients and their families
encounter as treatment ends and life beyond cancer
begins, this year’s conference will present the latest
information on support, therapy, and quality living
throughout the continuum of cancer care. Topics
include: creating and sustaining survivorship care
plans, advances in research and interventions,
sexuality in cancer survivors, living with cancer
in West Virginia, and CAMC Cancer Center’s
Project ECHO initiative. This one day conference
is designed for all physicians of all specialties,
pharmacists, nurses, and radiologic technologists.
Objectives
By attending this conference, participants should be
able to
• Describe the unintentional consequences of
cancer therapy
• Describe the impact of cancer in West Virginia
• Explain survivorship issues in pediatric cancer
patients after treatment ends
• Discuss how Project ECHO can connect
primary care providers to oncology specialists
to support WV cancer survivors
• Demonstrate how cancer diagnosis, treatment,
and survivorship can affect patients emotionally
and list ways to support patients throughout the
continuum
• Describe LGBTQ considerations in cancer
screening and survivorship
• Explain new guidelines for cancer survivorship
• Recall treatment strategies for VTE in cancer
patients
• Discuss current applications and innovations
of genetic sequencing for cancer cells
