2018 West Virginia Trauma Symposium At Stonewall Resort, Roanoke, WV February 14-16, 2018 Conference Overview and Objectives We would like to invite you to the 2018 West Virginia Trauma Symposium to be held at the Stonewall Resort, Roanoke, WV. This conference is designed for trauma surgeons, general surgeons, emergency room physicians, nurses, mid level providers and prehospital health care, coding specialists, pharmacists, and health information professionals. A registrar workshop will be presented as a separate meeting during the closing day of the conference. All registrars working in the trauma arena are encouraged to attend. This conference will represent a collaborative effort between experts in various trauma disciplines from around West Virginia. A Trauma Nursing Workshop will be held on the opening day of the conference featuring topics on surgical trauma, geriatric trauma, and complications. The speakers will present progressive and challenging issues in the field of trauma care. A poster session will also be held highlighting trauma research throughout the state. The State Trauma Audit Review/ State Trauma Audit Committee meetings will begin Friday afternoon February 16 and conclude on Saturday, February 17, 2018. All conference attendees are invited to attend. Objectives for 2018 Symposium Compare four current techniques in the treatment for hypovolemia including traditional resuscitation and whole blood resuscitation • Discuss current trends in pediatric trauma resuscitation • Compare and contrast care and transfer between a Level I and Level IV Trauma Center • Discuss life threats and implementations related to the Trauma Triad of Death • Understand legal issues with charting • Learn and understand the components of and techniques related to the REBOA catheter; its indications and complications • Review and discuss current management for concussive injuries • Understand mandibular fractures and identify management schemes • Identify and recognize current ballistic injuries • Discuss medications and issues with drug assisted intubation • Discuss current injuries associated with pediatric ATV crashes • Review current trends in caring of for the neurotrauma patient
