SEMINAR OBJECTIVES At the end of the seminar the participant should be able to: ? Define and discuss the epidemiology and history of the adverse child-hood experience. ? Explain how to identify, screen and evaluate the adverse childhood experience. ? Discuss how adverse childhood experiences affect and impact adults through the life span. ? Identify and discuss the relationship between traumatic emotional experiences as children and the physical and mental health as adults. ? Describe how early childhood trauma manifests in youth and adults. ? Discuss how to integrate the findings of the adverse childhood experi-ence into primary care and medical practice. ? Identify best practices and strategies in caring for patients with an ACE history.
