Description:
This annual seminar features lectures and panel discussions on a variety of neonatal and related issues. The program is designed for neonatologists, pediatricians, obstetricians, maternal fetal medicine specialists, family physicians, nurses and other allied health professionals involved in the care of mothers and neonatal infants. Upon completion of this seminar, participants should be able to:: • Review substance abuse in pregnancy on the state and national level • Discuss the prevalence of Nenonatal Abstinence Syndrome in WV, U.S. and internationally • Examine the legal ramifications of substance abuse in pregnancy • Discuss Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and differential diagnoses • Identify biomarkers of alcohol exposure in pregnancy • Review the Zika virus epidemic and the WV response • Understand fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and present treatment modalities • Discuss emerging infectious disease epidemics and its impact on pregnant women
